I understand the complexities and nuances of the entertainment business and I am a zealous, devoted and focused advocate for my clients. I have extensive experience in the entertainment industry and I regularly advise my clients on all aspects of the life cycle of their projects, from development through production and, ultimately, sales and distribution, with an emphasis on client-centered, practical solutions to a wide array of legal and business issues.
I guide my clients through the myriad legal issues they encounter with studios, networks, production companies and agencies throughout their careers.
Working closely with my client’s other professional advisors on all matters, I provide entertainment law services to actors, musicians, comedians, models, entertainers, artists, social media creators and filmmakers in the music, film and digital media industries including:
• A variety of talent services and rights agreements, first look and overall deals, commercial endorsements, sponsorships, merchandising, live touring and licensing agreements.
• All forms of distribution agreements across all media and serve as production counsel for select productions.
I am also advancing my services to include new media protections, such as integrated computer code, software programs and digital content such as; NFT, Virtual Reality, and Augmented Reality.

Quincy Newell is a 30+ year veteran of the entertainment and media business. He has held senior-level executive posts at a variety of independent and mainstream music and film companies including HITS Magazine, Warner Music Group’s Rhino Entertainment, Ventura Distribution’s UrbanWorks Entertainment, Universal/Vivendi’s Codeblack Entertainment and Lionsgate, where he served as EVP & GM of Lionsgate’s subsidiary Codeblack Films.
Mr. Newell’s extensive experience in the entertainment industry gives him a truly unique understanding of the inner workings of media business operations and deal making. Adept at understanding all facets of his clients’ strategic needs, he regularly helps his clients achieve their short and long-term goals.
Mr. Newell is experienced in content acquisitions, rights licensing, strategic planning, organizational development, development & production legal, contract negotiation, and content marketing & distribution strategy. He is also a creative problem-solver trained in mediation and conflict resolution.
In addition to his law practice, Mr. Newell continues to be active in his non-legal business endeavors. He serves as part of the executive team at Hidden Empire Film Group and is the founder of TwentyOne14 Media, a content sales, production and strategic advisory company through which he empowers independent filmmakers and content rights holders by creating effective strategies for them to obtain multi-tiered content monetization opportunities. TwentyOne14 Media has strategic business partnerships with a number of companies and individuals including Dan Abnett (award-winning novelist and comic book writer), Fuse Media, iTV America, Jesse Collins Entertainment, Cinedigm, Shout! Studios, and Team Legend Studios, among many others. TwentyOne14 Media has also provided strategic business advisement to Forest Whitaker and Nina Yang Bongiovi’s production company Significant Productions, the estate of Richard “Little Richard” Penniman, and the estate of artist Ernie Barnes.
Mr. Newell’s production credits include: superstar comedian and actor Kevin Hart's break-out concert films "Laugh at My Pain" and "Let Me Explain,", Shaquille O’Neal’s “All Star Jam“ comedy concert series, and the T.D. Jakes’ feature film "Woman Thou Art Loosed: On the 7th Day”, among others. Newell was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for his role as Producer on T.D. Jakes’ "Woman Thou Art Loosed: On the 7th Day." He also wrote and produced the critically acclaimed Sundance Film Festival documentary film "Why We Laugh: Black Comedians on Black Comedy" alongside its director Robert Townsend; and its follow-up "Why We Laugh: Funny Women" with producing partners Sheila Ducksworth and the late Joan Rivers.
Mr. Newell earned his Juris Doctor from University of West Los Angeles School of Law. He also earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business, where he is also a board member and an adjunct professor. He was awarded the school’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2018.
Mr. Newell has a passion for mentorship, inspiring him to pen and publish the book, “Insights: If Boys Never Learn, Men Won’t Know” with the goal of offering words of mentorship to young men of color seeking guidance in their lives.
Mr. Newell loves to travel, surf, is a recreational triathlete, a producer, a husband and a dad to four great kids. He also sits on the Board of Directors of OTT.X (formerly the Entertainment Merchants Association) and is a member of the Producers Guild of America.
